1 Nephi 3:7 “And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto my father: I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them.”
This has always been an important scripture for me. It’s the oft quoted “I will go an do” scripture, but as a I read it again as part of my personal scripture study, it took on new meaning. It says that God gives no commandment unto the children of men save he shall prepare a way to accomplish the task which he gives them to do. But that doesn’t just apply to “go get the plates” or modern day commandments of “don’t smoke” and providing a way to keep that commandment. It also applies when we mess up. We are commanded to repent. So God provided a way to do as he commands, the Atonement. This never occurred to me that the command to do as God says is also instantly applicable when we mess up. I think that we need to keep this in mind as we go through life. It’s really easy to focus on mistakes we have made, but we need to repent and move on.
